Science Fair Project Starting The Growing Process

Here is a fun science fair project to show how seeds absorb water to start the growing process. It is an easy and fast project to do if you have run out of time. Here is your science fair project about starting the growing process:24 Hour Science Projects

What you will need for this science fair project:

  • 1 Pen
  • 1 Note book
  • Tag Stickers
  • A camera for the photos for your display
  • 2 Small sealable plastic bags
  • Enough dry beans to fill the 2 plastic bags
  • A tray
  • Water

How to do your experiment:

  1. Start by writing down your hypothesis (that is what you think will happen)
  2. Fill each of the bags with dry beans
  3. Mark them A and B
  4. A will be your control (what is that? Find out in 24 Hour Science projects)
  5. Fill bag B with as much water as possible
  6. Seal both the bags very well
  7. Place them on your tray
  8. Place the tray outside in a sunny location

What happens?

  • Now you to observe your beans for a few hours
  • Make meticulous notes and take some photos for your display
  • After a few hours you will notice that the beans in the bag with the water start to swell
  • After some more time they will swell so much that the bag will pop open and the beans will spill out

Why does this happen?

What can your conclusion be?

Was your hypothesis correct?

When you are doing this science fair project about starting the growing process, it does not matter if your hypothesis was correct or not. What is important is that you have followed the correct scientific method and arrived at a conclusion that proves what you set out to prove.
